In the San Antonio Express News today, Sept 4th, there is an article on the Penalties for DWI. It states that as of Thurs., Sept 1st, 2011, first time offenders will be charged with an A misdemeanor (previously a B), punishable up to one year in jail and up to $4000.00 fine. Furthermore, in Bexar County, we have no refusal weekends. This means, if you are suspected of drunk driving and refuse to blow, you may be subjected to having your blood drawn. This Labor Day weekend is our first holiday weekend under this enhanced law.
